How we mark casino hotels
Last revised · facts verified
Six criteria, each marked out of 10, then blended by weight. The weighting matters: a resort can't ride one standout feature to the top of the list.
| Criterion | Weight |
|---|---|
| Rooms & views | 25% |
| Casino floor | 20% |
| Dining | 20% |
| Shows & events | 15% |
| Pool, spa & fitness | 10% |
| Getting there | 10% |
What we look at
- Rooms & views: count and range of rooms and suites, published sizes, what's outside the window, and how recently they were redone.
- Casino floor: size, numbers of slots and tables, hours, poker rooms and high-limit areas.
- Dining: breadth, a destination restaurant, food after midnight, buffets and brunch.
- Shows & events: venue size, the calendar, and the age rule at the door.
- Pool, spa & fitness: what is open today, not what the brochure once promised.
- Getting there: airport and downtown distances, transit and parking.
Our sources
Our research runs in a fixed order. First come the property's own website and the casino operator's pages; next, provincial tourism boards and the hotel brand; last of all, newspapers and Wikipedia, credited by name whenever we use them. If two sources disagree (Hilton Lac-Leamy's room count is a case in point), you see both numbers. If something is never published, we tell you so instead of filling the gap. Hotel facts for this edition were checked on October 23, 2026, and the new-openings page on October 28, 2026.
A note on method: for this edition we did not sleep at these hotels. These are desk reviews of published information, and you should weigh them as such.
How we fund the site
Not a cent comes from hotels, and every hotel link is an ordinary one. The exception is our online casino pages: some links there may be affiliate links, so a commission could reach us if you sign up, without costing you anything. That money has no effect on any hotel's mark, and a place in our hotel ranking is never for sale.
Fixing mistakes
Resorts move fast. A restaurant shuts, a pool reopens, a fee creeps up. Spot something stale? Write to [email protected] and we'll check it against the source, then re-date the page once it's fixed.
