Cascades Casino Resort: our review
Last revised · facts verified
Cascades is Gateway's casino in Langley City, with the 77-room Coast hotel beside it. Come for the steak at ATLAS, round-the-clock gaming and free parking; don't come for a pool or a theatre, because there's neither.
Go if: A steak dinner and a session at the tables in the Fraser Valley.
Think twice if: You want a pool or a stage; there's neither.
What you get
Cascades opened in Langley City in May 2005 under Gateway Casinos. The hotel beside it, the Coast Langley City Hotel & Convention Centre, renovated its 77 rooms in 2018. Pick between the Coast King and the Coast Two Queens, a Queen on the corner with a sofa bed, an accessible Queen fitted with a roll-in shower, an Executive Suite that opens onto a balcony, or a Hospitality Suite with its own wet bar.
Gaming
The casino never closes and spreads over 80,000 sq ft with more than 1,000 slots, plus roulette, blackjack, bingo and a poker room. What it doesn't have is a showroom: the Summit Theatre, which seated 420, shut in 2018 and became the bingo hall.
Food
The headline is ATLAS steak + fish, Gateway's signature restaurant concept. Match Eatery & Public House books DJs and live music, hotel guests eat breakfast at The Breakfast Room, and every Sunday from 11 am a brunch buffet is served in the convention ballroom. Glacier Bar keeps 11 am to 2 am hours.
Practical points
Don't pack a swimsuit: the hotel is upfront that it has no pool, though its gym never closes. Rooms are ready from 3 pm, you leave by noon, and the car park is free. A single pet costs $25 a night and two cost $40, provided you get approval first. Driving times are around an hour to YVR and about half an hour to the airport in Abbotsford, and the Greater Vancouver Zoo and Fort Langley are a short hop away.
Our take
A dependable local casino with a reasonable small hotel next door. It isn't in the same league as the resorts in our top ten and makes no claim to be.
