Caesars Windsor: our review
Last revised · facts verified
Caesars Windsor beats every other resort in this guide on size, with 758 rooms in two towers, and most of them face the Detroit skyline over the river. The Colosseum seats 5,000 within 225 feet of the stage, the casino counts 2,000-plus slots and upward of 80 tables, and you're in the middle of downtown rather than out by a highway.
Go if: Colosseum nights, and riverside city breaks where you'd like a wide pick of room types.
Think twice if: The kids want a swim: the pool is 19+.
What you're booking
At 758 rooms, Caesars Windsor is the largest hotel we cover. They're shared between two towers: Augustus, which the resort promotes to families, and Forum, the older of the pair. The setting is Riverside Drive in the heart of downtown Windsor, and the thing most rooms are sold on sits right outside: the Detroit River, with Detroit's towers on the far bank.
Room types
Start with the Resort Room: roughly 402 sq ft, one king, a generous desk, separate tub and shower, and the river beyond the window. The resort announced a refresh of every room back in 2018, and the Forum Tower's rooms were completed by September 2019, gaining 55-inch screens plus fresh bedding and carpet. Suites step up in three stages. The Resort Deluxe brings a wet bar and whirlpool tub. The Junior adds a separate living room (only the Forum Tower version has the whirlpool). The Executive offers a five-piece marble bathroom, a television built into the mirror, a butler's entrance of its own and, in some cases, a fireplace.
Arrival is from 4 pm and departure by 11 am. Budget for the extra nightly charge: when we priced a stay, the booking page tacked on a $23.40 resort fee per night, billed at checkout.
The casino
Per the August 2023 fact sheet, players get 2,000-plus slot machines and over 80 tables, a list that, the sheet claimed, includes the province's only live craps; there's also a World Series of Poker room and a Caesars Sportsbook covering 1,700 sq ft with 22 large screens. Anyone on the floor or in the bars must be 19. Caesars Rewards members collect points and also get early access to Colosseum tickets.
Shows at the Colosseum
Many guests come for one reason, and it's the Colosseum. It holds 5,000, and the resort says nobody sits more than 225 feet back. Shows are open to every age unless the listing says otherwise, as a July 2026 announcement confirmed. On our last check the calendar had Alice Cooper on Friday, November 6, 2026.
Food and drink
For a special dinner it's Neros Steakhouse. Otherwise the choice is relaxed: Spago Trattoria does Italian-style family meals, Café 377 covers breakfast and lunch, Johnny Rockets and Legends Sports Bar handle burgers and the game, and the Tim Hortons on the Forum Tower's main floor runs 24 hours. Cosmos Lounge brings in local live acts on Friday and Saturday nights, while Vu Bar trades on its skyline view. The nightclub, ARIIUS, left in January 2026 for a new home on Ouellette Avenue, which leaves the resort without a club.
Swimming and fitness
Only adults may use the indoor pool, which comes with a large whirlpool, loungers and towels. Hotel guests can also use the sauna and the fitness room. A spa wasn't among the amenities listed when we reviewed it.
Arriving
From Windsor International Airport it's a quick taxi into downtown. Drivers can use the six-storey garage at 257 Glengarry Avenue, fully back in service from July 8, 2026 after over a year of repairs. If you're crossing from Detroit, the private Tunnel Bus lets you off close to the resort at McDougall and University, for a cashless $15 fare.
Our take
Book Caesars Windsor when there's a Colosseum show you want to see, or for a couple of nights downtown with plenty of room choice. It's at its best for couples. Families will be comfortable enough in the Augustus Tower, but with the pool closed to children, they'll need another plan for swimming.
Before you book: common questions
Is the Caesars Windsor pool open to kids?
No. According to the fact sheet, the indoor pool and its whirlpool hot tub are for adults only.
Can teenagers attend Colosseum shows?
In most cases. The resort says the Colosseum is all-ages unless an individual show is restricted, while the casino and its bars stay 19+.
How much is the resort fee at Caesars Windsor?
When we checked the booking page it was $23.40 per night, charged on checkout.
